This Privacy Policy explains how Sum 61 collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Sum 61 website, iOS application, Android application, and related services at https://sum61.com.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- Email address
- Display name or username
- Legal acceptance records, including the age/guardian statement selected at signup
Game and Profile Information
We store gameplay information needed to operate the Service, including game history, ratings, leaderboards, puzzle progress, profile customizations, reports, blocks, friends, invitations, coin balances, membership status, and store purchases.
Usage and Device Information
We and our service providers may receive technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, time spent, approximate location derived from IP address or country detection, crash logs, diagnostics, and connection data needed for security, fraud prevention, analytics, ads, payments, and service reliability.
Payment and Store Information
When you buy a membership, coins, or other digital items, we store transaction details needed to deliver and support the purchase, such as product IDs, purchase status, purchase provider, subscription status, purchase tokens or subscription IDs, coin grants, and purchase history. Payment card details are handled by payment providers such as Stripe, Google Play, or Apple, not by Sum 61.
Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies
We use essential cookies or local storage to keep the Service working, including login, settings, gameplay state, cookie choices, and fraud prevention. We may use optional technologies for analytics, advertising, measurement, and improving the Service when permitted by your choices and applicable law. In the iOS app, optional tracking is not enabled in this build and the website cookie notice is not shown.
Advertising, Google AdSense, and Google AdMob
Sum 61 may show ads on the website through Google AdSense and in the Android and iOS apps through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, mobile advertising IDs where permitted, ad unit IDs, ad interaction data, and similar technologies to serve ads, measure performance, prevent fraud and abuse, cap frequency, report aggregate ad performance, and, where permitted, personalize ads.
If you choose personalized ads, ads may be based on information such as your activity on Sum 61, your activity on other sites or apps, and demographic or interest data associated with your browser or device. If you reject optional tracking, close the consent notice, or have not made a choice, we may still show limited or contextual ads where available. Limited or contextual ads are not based on your past behavior for ad personalization, but Google may still process data such as IP address and may use technologies needed for basic ad serving, security, fraud prevention, and reporting.
In the Android app, for users who are not under 13, not using an anonymous session, and where required consent has been obtained, Sum 61 may request personalized AdMob ads. If consent is not required or has not been provided where required, or if the account or session requires restricted ad treatment, Android ads may be requested as non-personalized, limited, contextual, or child-appropriate ads instead.
In the iOS app build approved by App Review, Sum 61 does not request personalized AdMob ads and does not use App Tracking Transparency because optional tracking is disabled. Where iOS app ads are available, they are requested as limited or contextual ads rather than personalized ads.
The Android and iOS apps may offer rewarded ads that grant coins only after an eligible ad is completed. We store rewarded-ad request tokens, grant status, coin amounts, daily cap usage, ad unit IDs, timestamps, and related fraud-prevention records. We may also show interstitial ads at natural breaks, such as after a non-member chooses rematch.
Learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use Google services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage Google ad personalization at https://myadcenter.google.com/.
Your Privacy Choices
You can accept optional advertising and measurement technologies or reject optional tracking from the cookie notice. Rejecting optional tracking does not necessarily remove all ads; it means we should not request personalized ads based on optional tracking. In regions where a certified consent management platform is required for personalized ads, including the Android app where applicable, we will use a Google-certified consent flow before requesting personalized ads. The iOS app does not show the cookie notice in this build because optional tracking is disabled there.
Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland may be shown Google consent messages for ads. Where required, those messages allow consent choices for ad storage, ad personalization, ad measurement, and related purposes. You can also use browser, device, Google account, Android, or iOS settings to limit ad personalization.
Children and Teens
Sum 61 is intended for a general audience, but children may use the Service with the involvement and permission of a parent, guardian, or school where required. Users creating an account must confirm whether they are 13 or older, or whether they are under 13 and using the Service with parent or guardian involvement and permission.
We do not knowingly request personalized ads for users we know are under 13, and we request restricted, child-appropriate ad treatment where supported for under-13 and anonymous app sessions. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete or correct the information.

- To verify Google Play and App Store purchases and sync app purchase entitlements
- To send service-related emails such as verification or login messages
- To detect abuse, cheating, spam, fraud, and security issues
- To show ads and measure ad performance where permitted
- To comply with legal obligations
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some privacy laws may define personalized advertising as a form of sharing or targeted advertising. We may share information with:
- Hosting, database, authentication, and infrastructure providers such as Supabase, Vercel, and Render
- Payment processors and app store providers such as Stripe, Google Play Billing, and Apple
- Advertising partners such as Google AdSense and Google AdMob

User-Generated Content
Display names, public profile details, leaderboard entries, and other gameplay-related information may be visible to other users. Please do not include sensitive personal information in public-facing fields.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and keep accounting or transaction records.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, including Canada, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Account and Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your Sum 61 account and associated account data from the Account tab on your Profile page at https://sum61.com/profile. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be recovered. Before deleting an account, we require confirmation and password re-authentication.
When an account is deleted, we delete or anonymize account-related records such as profile information, legal acceptance records, friends, invites, puzzle progress, owned customizations, coins, and purchase history where deletion is supported by our systems. If an active paid membership exists through a payment provider, we attempt to cancel the membership before completing account deletion so the deleted account is not charged again.
We may retain limited records that are necessary for security, fraud prevention, payment/accounting compliance, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or proof that an account deletion request was completed. This may include a non-reversible hash of the account email, the deleted user ID, deletion timestamp, payment provider identifiers, purchase cancellation status, and cleanup summary.
You may also contact us at the email below to request deletion, correction, access, or another privacy request without using the in-app deletion flow.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including jurisdictions with different data protection laws.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Asset Credits
Third-party asset credits and license notices are listed on the Asset Credits page.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated date above shows when it was last revised.
